Mediation and Guardian Ad Litem Services
Legal guardians are individuals that have legal authority to care for another person. The individual being cared for is called a ward. Legal guardians must take care of their ward’s personal and property interests. Legal guardianship is commonly used for incapacitated seniors.
Mediation
From Sheena’s interview for the Masters of Family Law series on ReelLawyers.com
Mediation is a legal process which allows two parties to negotiate settlement of their dispute without litigation. A neutral third party, the mediator, assists the parties with negotiating parental responsibility, timesharing and child-related matters, alimony or spousal support, child support and other child-related financial matters, equitable distribution, and any other issues involved in dissolving their marriage. Mediation allows the parties to exercise more control over the settlement of their issues than they would have if the Court decides all the issues for them. The attorneys of the Law Office of Sheena Benjamin-Wise are trained and effective mediators who help you prepare for and attend mediation with you or serve as the mediator to resolve your contested case.
Unbundled Services
You may find that the costs of litigation or full-service legal representation unaffordable. We can assist you with limited representation or “do it yourself” representation. In other words, we can appear for you at certain points of your case. The attorneys can be contracted to assist with one hearing or one mediation. You can decide how and when legal services can be used to achieve your optimal outcome and control your costs and expenses. Our goal is to help you protect your rights and understand your responsibilities to the Court and the other party.
